DSP News Release: Clerk Arrested for her Involvement in Staging a Hotel Robbery

 

Troopers have arrested a 23 year-old clerk for staging a robbery at a Rehoboth area hotel.

 

Troopers arrested Megan Schatzman, 23, of Millsboro, who was the alleged victim on the September 11th robbery hotel robbery.

 

Troopers found evidence that lead them to believe that she staged the crime to cover up a theft of money for the hotel.

 

Schatzman was arrested yesterday December 2, and charged with felony theft, conspiracy 2nd and falsely reporting an incident. She was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on $3,000 bail.

Date of Occurrence: Friday, September 11, 2009 at 01:24 a.m.

 

Suspect(s): Two black male suspects both had average builds

 

Resume:

 

State police are investigating a robbery to a Rehoboth hotel.

 

On Friday just after 1:20 in the morning two male suspects entered to the hotel lobby and confronted a 23 year-old female clerk. One of the suspects placed a handgun to the female victim and then assaulted her. The suspects entered the office area, removed a safe containing money and then fled.

 

The suspect then fled.
