DSP News Release: Thursday, September 17, 2009- Bank Robbery Round-Up

 

Resume: To all media outlets… all throughout the year the Delaware State Police reports on every bank robbery which occurs in our jurisdiction.  Although our detectives do a terrific job in solving many of these capers, certainly with the public and media’s help, there are several that have gone unsolved.

  • April 3, 2009, WSFS Bank, inside the Safeway supermarket located at 2522 Foulk Rd., Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County- The suspect in this case walked into the Safeway market and proceeded to the WSFS Bank located inside the store. The suspect presented a note to the victim teller demanding money. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of United States Currency and fled the store in an unknown direction.

 

  • May 12, 2009, Wilmington Trust, 287 Christiana Road, New Castle, Delaware, New Castle County- This investigation revealed that at approximately 9:30 a.m. a male suspect entered the Wilmington Trust and approached the teller.  This subject presented a note, to the bank employee, which implied he had a weapon and demanded cash.  The teller complied and the bandit fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction.

 

  • June 4th, 2009, PNC Bank, 3840 Kennett Pike, Greenville, Delaware, New Castle County- In this case, a white male suspect entered the bank and approached a teller.  He was armed with a handgun and demanded cash.  The clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of money and the crook fled the scene

  • June 5th, 2009, Artisans Bank, 1124 Pulaski Highway, Bear, Delaware, New Castle County- A black male suspect entered the bank and approached a teller.  This subject presented the teller with a demand note for cash. He was also in possession of a handgun.  The teller complied with the robber’s demands and the suspect then fled the scene. 

 

  • July 24, 2009, PNC Bank, 100 Eden Circle, Bear, Delaware, New Castle County- At approximately 5:49 p.m., a male suspect entered the bank and presented a note to one of the bank tellers.  The suspect demanded cash and the teller complied.  The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene with same.

 

  • August 22, 2009, WSFS Bank, 210 Fox Hunt Dr, Bear, Delaware, New Castle County- At approximately 9:38 a.m. a white male suspect entered the bank and approached the teller.  The suspect handed the teller a demand note and verbally stated that he was armed with a gun.  After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money the suspect fled the area by unknown means. 

 

  • September 10, 2009, Wachovia Bank, 3215 Old Capitol Trail, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County- At approximately 11:50 a.m. the below pictured suspect entered the bank and approached a teller.  The bandit presented a note to the bank employee which demanded cash.  The note advised no one would be harmed if the teller complied.  The bank teller turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and the bandit fled the scene on foot.
