DSP News Release: Three Injured in Serious Crash in Bear
Location: DE Rt. 72 (Wrangle Hill Road) and Porter Road, Bear, DE
Date of Occurrence: Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 11:10 a.m.
Operator 1: Colby M. Schepers, 26, Bel Air, MD
Vehicle 1: 2006 Mazda 6
Operator 2: Edward A. Thompson, 55, Middletown, DE
Vehicle 2: 1989 Mack Dump Truck
Injured:†† Colby Schepers (2 broken femurs, a broken clavicle, and a broken wrist)
Laura Weichseldorfer, 27, Bel Air, MD (broken clavicle, lacerations to knees)

Layla Britton, 5, Bel Air, MD (lacerations to stomach and legs) Rear seat passenger in vehicle 1.
Resume:† The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious accident that occurred in Bear late this morning in which three people were injured.
The accident happened at approximately 11:10 this morning as Colby Schepers was operating a 2006 Mazda and was traveling southbound on DE Rt. 72 through the intersection of Porter Road in Bear. Scheperís vehicle struck the front of a 1989 Mack Dump truck that was being operated by Edward Thompson and which was attempting to make a left hand turn from northbound RT. 72 onto westbound Porter Road. Schepers, Weichseldorfer, and Layla Britton, were all transported by EMS to the Christiana Hospital. They are all in stable condition at this time with non-life threatening injuries. Edward Thompson was not injured. The crash is still under investigation at this time. The intersection of Rt. 72 and Porter Road was closed for approximately 3 hours as the accident was cleared.
