19 Year-old in Critical Condition after Assault

 

Location: Campground Lot 10, Persimmon Tree Lane, east of SR 1, Dover, Kent County, DE

 

Date of Occurrence: Saturday September 25, 2010 at 2 a.m.

 

Suspect:  Martin Fowler, 19, Milford, DE

Dover - Delaware State Police have arrested a 19 year-old Milford man after he assaulted a 19 year-old female.

 

Troopers were called to Campground Lot 10 off of Persimmon Tree Lane early this morning after a 19 year-old female was left unconscious when she was punched in the face.

 

The incident started when a group of four males confronted two females in the campground. The males were making statements to the women implicating sexual acts. When the females became offended an argument ensued. It escalated when Fowler allegedly punched one of the women in the face. The victim immediately collapsed to the ground in an unconscious state. After the assault suspect and the three male fled. A 30 year-old Good Samaritan male camper chased after Fowler and attempted to detain him. Fowler then allegedly assaulted the Good Samaritan breaking his nose.

 

Troopers were able to identify Fowler as the suspect and took him into custody at his residence in Milford early this morning.  

 

The 19 year-old female victim was taken to Kent General Hospital in Dover immediately after the assault when it was learned she had bleeding in her brain. She was airlifted to Christiana Hospital in New Castle County where she is listed in critical condition.

 

Fowler was charged with one count of Assault 1st and one count of Assault 2nd and one count of disorderly conduct. He was committed to the Department of Correction facility in Smyrna in default of $25,250.00 bail.
