DSP News Release: Thursday, November 5th, 2009 - Victim Maintains a Visual on a Purse Snatcher Resulting in an Arrest
Location: Rodney Village Brunswick Bowling Alley, 1600 South Governor's Avenue, Dover, DE
Date of Occurrence: September 17th, 2009 at 5:38 pm & November 1st, 2009 at 12:34 pm
Suspect(s): Ms. Victoria Hollingsworth, 42, of the Unit Block of 22nd Street, Wilmington, DE
Resume:
On September 17th, 2009, Delaware State Troopers responded to the Rodney Village Brunswick Bowling Alley, located at 1600 South Governor's Avenue, Dover, reference to a purse snatching. In this first incident a 79-year old female victim was at the establishment when her purse was removed by an unknown suspect.
On November 1st, 2009, Delaware State Police again responded to the bowling alley reference to a purse snatching. In this incident, the 49-year old female and an 82-year old female were bowling when their purses were stolen. This theft was observed by one of the victims who maintained a visual on the suspect, later identified as Ms. Victoria Hollingsworth, 42, of the Unit Block of 22nd Street, Wilmington, as she exited the bowling alley. The victim was able to obtain a description of Ms. Hollingsworth and provide it to 911 and responding officers.
Ms. Hollingsworth was contacted on the shoulder of US RT 13 and taken into custody. Initially, Ms. Hollingsworth attempted to protect her identity by providing the police officers with an incorrect name. A fingerprint check ultimately revealed Ms. Hollingsworth's true identity. Additional computer checks revealed Ms. Hollingsworth has active capiases out of New Castle County courts.
Ms. Hollingsworth was formally charged with the following on November 1st, 2009 resulting in a $750.00 secure bond:
* 2-Counts of Theft Under $1500.00 (Misdemeanor) * 1-Count of Criminal Impersonation (Misdemeanor) * 1-Count of Disorderly (Misdemeanor)
As the investigation continued, Ms. Hollingsworth was linked to the September 17th, 2009, purse snatching. For her involvement in this incident she was charged with the following on November 4th, 2009:
* 2-Counts of Theft Less Than $1500.00 with a Victim Greater Than 62-Years of Age (Felony) * 1-Count of Theft Less Than $1500.00 (Misdemeanor)
Ms. Hollingsworth was issued a $2300.00 secure bond. Ms. Hollingsworth is presently incarcerated at Women's Correctional Center. |
