Magnolia Man Arrested for Seventh Offense DUI

Camden – The Delaware State Police have arrested Anthony B. McLeish, 45 of Magnolia for felony DUI , Resisting Arrest and other traffic offenses after he was apprehended driving a vehicle under influence of alcohol for the seventh time.

 

Last evening at 7:15 pm, a trooper on patrol was traveling on Willow Grove Rd (state route 10) in the area of Henry Cowgill Road when he encountered a brown Ford Ranger pick-up traveling westbound in front of him.  The Ranger began crossing the center line and entered the opposite lane of travel eventually going westbound in the eastbound lane.

 

The trooper conducted a traffic stop and encountered Anthony McLeish as the operator.  The trooper immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed McLeish’s blood shot eyes.  A standard DUI investigation ensued at which point McLeish failed field sobriety tests.  The trooper advised McLeish that he was being detained under suspicion of DUI and he began walking away.  The trooper attempted to stop him when McLeish began pushing the trooper.  A brief struggle ensued and the trooper was able to place Anthony into custody without further incident.

 

Subsequent his arrest, the trooper learned McLeish had six prior DUI convictions on 07/20/06, 12/30/04, 09/19/01, 01/14/01, 09/07/94 and 10/16/88.  McLeish was charged with Felony DUI, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Provide Insurance, Failure to Have a Registration Card, Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device and Driving with a Cracked Windshield.  He was remanded to the James T Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of a $10, 675 cash only bail
