Released-Saturday, May 30, 2009

Felton-Shortly after 11:30 p.m. last night, Troop 3 troopers responded to US 13 south of Plymouth Road in reference to a multi-vehicle crash.

An investigation revealed that a 1999 Toyota Camry, operated by Scott P. Cassyd, 40, of Felton was traveling northbound on US 13. For unknown reasons, the Camry collided with the rear of a 2004 Toyota Tundra pick-up truck, operated by Duray Salman, 35, of Frederica.

As a result of the collision, the Camry continued off of the east edge of the roadway and struck two mailboxes and a utility pole before coming to rest.  The Tundra also continued off of the east edge of the roadway and struck four unoccupied, legally parked vehicles and a house, before coming to rest on its roof.

Mr. Cassyd was alone in his vehicle and he was not injured.

Mr. Salman and his 33 year-old passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries, and were transported by ambulance to Kent General Hospital.

All occupants were seat belted at the time of the crash.

Alcohol was a factor on the part of Mr. Cassyd.

Mr. Cassyd was charged with DUI and two counts of vehicular assault (misdemeanor).

There was no reported structural damage or injuries to anyone inside the house.
