Two Car Crash Near Frederica

 

Final Release - Sunday July 12, 2009 (6:10 p.m.)

 

Frederica - At approximately 3:10 p.m. this afternoon, a 2002 Honda Accord (operated by Nicholas Malascalza, 17, of Bear) stopped at the stop sign on North Frederica Road. The car then began to cross over SR1 southbound to proceed northbound on SR1.  At the same time, a 2005 Jeep Cherokee (operated by William S. Rogers, 37, of Millsboro) was southbound on SR1 and struck the Accord on the driver's side.  Upon impact, the Accord was pushed out into the southbound lanes of SR1 and the Cherokee went into the median and overturned.

 

In each vehicle, there were three additional occupants who were all seatbelted. 

 

In all, a total of eight persons, including the drivers, were transported to area hospitals and treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

 

Nicholas was cited for Failure to Remain Stopped at a Stop Sign.

 

The southbound lanes of SR1 were closed for approximately one hour and traffic was diverted through Frederica on Frederica Road.

 

 

 

Two Car Crash Near Frederica

Frederica - The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a two car crash at SR 1 southbound and North Frederica Road.  The southbound lanes have been shut down due to one of the vehicles overturned in the roadway.  It is reported that eight people have been taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.  Alternate routes of travel should be taken in this area.
