DSP News Release: Tuesday, August 04, 2009- Harrington Police Officer Charged with Sexual Offense
Location: Marshview Drive in Magnolia, Delaware, Kent County
Date of Occurrence: May – June of 2009
Suspect(s): Aaron L. Jones, 40, of Magnolia
Resume: Earlier today, Delaware State Police Troop 3 detectives arrested Aaron L. Jones for the following misdemeanor offenses: Endangering the Welfare of a Child and three counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact.
It has been alleged that Mr. Jones, a Harrington Police Officer, inappropriately touched a female, who was a minor, staying in his home. This conduct reportedly took place between May – June of 2009, and NOT while Jones was on duty.
Jones voluntarily turned himself in to authorities this afternoon. Upon his arraignment, he was released on a $2,500.00 unsecured bond. Jones was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Questions regarding Mr. Jones’ status with Harrington PD should be directed to that agency’s chief- Norman Barlow.
Because of the sensitivity of this case, and in consideration of the victim, only limited information will be released.
