Dover - On Tuesday, April 14th, 2009, members of the Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit in conjunction with the Special Operations Unit and Kent County Governor's Task Force, executed a search warrant in the unit block of Saxton Road, Kent Acres. The search warrant culminated a six-month investigation into the sale of cocaine and prescription pills.
Ms. Melanie Unsworth, 30, and Tyrone Thomas, 27, were taken into custody inside the residence without incident. During a search of the residence investigators found 5.1 grams of cocaine packaged for sale, 18.8 grams of marijuana, 27 Xanax pills, a digital scale with packaging materials, and a undisclosed amount of currency.
Also, during the search two juveniles, a seven and three year old, were located unharmed. Both juveniles were subsequently turned over to relatives. A referral to Division of Family Services was made by investigators for follow-up.
Ms. Unsworth was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3 where she was formally charged with the following offenses:
· 7-Counts of Delivery of Narcotic Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony) · 6-Counts of Maintaining a Dwelling for Keeping Controlled Substance (Felony) · 3-Counts of Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony) · 1-Count of Delivery of Narcotic Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Felony) · 1-Count of Possession with Intent to Deliver Narcotic Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony) · 1-Count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture III, IV and V Controlled Substances (Felony) · 2-Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Misdemeanor) · 3-Counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor
Following an arraignment, Ms. Unsworth was committed to Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Center in lieu of $95,500.00 secure bond.
Mr. Thomas was also transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3 where he was formally charged with the following offenses:
· 3-Counts of Delivery of Narcotic Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Felony) · 4-Counts of Maintaining a Dwelling for Keeping Controlled Substances (Felony) · 1-Count of Delivery of Narcotic Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony) · 3-Counts of Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony) · 1-Count of Possession with Intent to Deliver Narcotic Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony) · 1-Count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture Narcotic Schedule III, IV, and V Controlled Substance (Felony) · 2-Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Misdemeanor) · 1-Count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)
Following an arraignment, Mr. Thomas was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $48,000.00 secure bond and an administrative warrant for Violation of Probation.
