Joint Investigation Yields Drugs and Guns

Harrington-Yesterday, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers assigned to the Governors Task Force (GTF), with assistance from the Kent County Drug Unit and Harrington Police Department stopped Thomas Cahall, Jr. operating a vehicle along US 13 south of Delaware Ave. He was known by investigators to be driving with a suspended license. A search of the vehicle revealed .4 grams of marijuana.

 

After the stop, officers executed a search warrant at Cahall’s residence on S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington, Delaware. This was the culmination of a two month drug/weapons investigation.

 

 During the execution of the search warrant, two separate marijuana grows were located at the dwelling. One was contained in the attic. Seven marijuana plants, lights, water pumps, timers, plant food, and containers were located in the attic.

 

Additional marijuana plants were located outside of the home on the back deck. Drug paraphernalia was located throughout the residence along with 15 firearms (including 2 SKS assault rifles, 3 handguns, and 10 shotguns/rifles), and three morphine pills. The total weight of the marijuana seized was 595.4 grams. Three juvenile family members, ages four, five, and nine-years-old were located inside the home as well.

 

As a result of this investigation troopers charged the following suspects:

 

Thomas Cahall, Jr., 25, of Harrington was formally charged with four counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (F), Maintaining a Dwelling for Keeping Marijuana (F), Conspiracy 2nd Degree (F), three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (M), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M), Possession of Marijuana (M), Driving While Suspended Revoked (traffic violation).  Thomas Cahall, Jr., was arraigned and committed to the Delaware Correctional Center in lieu of $55,500.00 secured bond.

 

Thomas Cahall, Jr.’s father, Thomas Cahall, Sr., 45, of Harrington was formally charged with four counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (F), Maintaining a Dwelling for Keeping Marijuana (F), Conspiracy 2nd Degree (F), three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (M), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M), and Possession of Marijuana (M). Thomas Cahall, Sr., was arraigned and released on after posting $23,500.00 secured bond.

 

 Thomas Cahall’s, Jr.’s mother, Dorothy Cahall, 44, of Harrington was formally charged with three counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (F), Maintaining a Dwelling for Keeping Marijuana (F), Conspiracy 2nd Degree (F), three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (M), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M). Dorothy Cahall was arraigned and released after posting $39,500.00 unsecured bond.
