Troopers Charge
Four in Connection with Armed Robbery Spree

Dover-Criminal
Investigators assigned to the Major Crimes Unit at Troop 3 with the
aid of the Dover Police Department cleared three armed
robberies that occurred last weekend in the Dover area.
The first
robbery occurred on Saturday, April 26th at the Valero
Store located at 1979 N. DuPont Hwy, Dover. This incident took
place at approximately 10:00 p.m. The second incident occurred at
the Valero Shore Stop located at 761 Main Street in Cheswold.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene to investigate the crime which
occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. The incident was captured by a
surveillance camera.
The third
incident occurred on Sunday, April 27, 2008. On that evening,
troopers were dispatched to the Canterbury Shore Stop / Valero store
located at 8953 S. DuPont Hwy. to investigate a reported robbery.
Upon arrival investigators learned the incident took place at
approximately 10:29 p.m.
In each case,
the suspect and modus operandi were similar. On Monday, April 28th
a possible suspect was developed. With assistance from the
Dover Police Department State Troopers identified the suspect as
Carl E. Thomas, of Dover. He was arrested yesterday and
confessed to robbing the clerks at gunpoint and splitting the cash
with three other suspects who provided transportation to and from
the crime scenes.
Carl E. Thomas,
20, of Dover was arrested yesterday and was formally charged with
the following felony criminal offenses: three counts of Robbery 1st
Degree, two counts of Possession of a Weapon during the Commission
of a Felony, three counts of Aggravated Menacing, three counts of
Conspiracy 2nd Degree and two counts of Wearing a
Disguise During the Commission of a Felony. Thomas was arraigned
and committed to the Delaware Correctional Center (DCC) in lieu of
$37,000.00 secured bond. (The Dover Police Department also charged
Thomas with robberies which occurred within Dover city limits.)
The following
individuals were developed as suspects during this investigation and
arrested today after confessing to their involvement.
Stephen
Eashum, 18, of Dover was charged with three counts of Robbery 1st
Degree, two counts of Possession of a Weapon during the Commission
of a Felony, three counts of Conspiracy 2nd Degree,
Aggravated Menacing, and Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of
a Felony. Stephen Eashum was arraigned and committed to DCC in lieu
of $84,000.00 secured bond.
Megan Eashum,
20, of Dover was charged with two counts of Robbery 1st
Degree, two counts of Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Possession
of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing,
and Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony. Megan
Eashum was arraigned and committed to W.C.I. in lieu of $57,000.00
secured bond.
Lee A. Redding,
20 of Dover was charged with Robbery 1st Degree and
Conspiracy 2nd Degree. Redding was arraigned and
committed to DCC in lieu of $25,000.000.
