Teen Charged with Robbery

Rehoboth-The
Delaware State Police recently charged a 16-year-old Wilmington boy
with several felonies including robbery and theft.
The incident
occurred Tuesday evening shortly after 9:00 p.m. Troopers were
initially dispatched to Coastal Highway just north of Dewey Beach to
investigate a strong-armed robbery that occurred on the canal
bridge.
Upon arrival,
investigators learned a 26-year-old Rehoboth Beach woman was
attacked while walking over the bridge. According to the victim two
suspects described as black males in their teens grabbed her purse
and pushed her to the ground. The suspects then kicked her and fled
with her purse containing as small amount of cash and credit cards.
The victim
provided officers with descriptions of the suspects. One of the
suspects later identified as Brandon D. Waples, 16, of
Wilmington was apprehended at the Burton Village apartment complex.
Waples was positively identified by the victim during the
investigation.
He was formally
charged with Robbery 2nd Degree (F), Theft (F), and
Conspiracy 2nd Degree (F). Waples was arraigned and
committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center in lieu of
$20,000.00 secured bond. |
