Magnolia Man Shot During Home Invasion Robbery

Released-Wednesday, April 02, 2008

Magnolia-Delaware State Police detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit at Troop 3 are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred early this morning.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a residence located along the 100 block of Terry Drive, Magnolia, DE, (Meadowbrook Acres) to investigate a reported home invasion robbery.

Upon arrival, investigators contacted a 62-year-old woman and her 32-year-old son.  According to the victims, four black male suspects armed with three handguns and a shotgun kicked in the front door of their residence.  Once inside they accosted the victims.

The suspects demanded money and threatened to shoot the victims. During the robbery the male victim attempted to fight the suspects off by wrestling with one or more of the suspects.  During the struggle in his bedroom a shotgun was fired going through the left arm of the victim.

The struggle continued and the victim and his mother fled the trailer to a residence next door.  While exiting the residence the suspects fired two handgun rounds at the victims.  One of the rounds struck the male victim in the upper thigh, the second missed him. The female victim was not struck.

The suspects were described as four unknown black males wearing "hoodies" and disguises which concealed their identity from the victims. Nothing was taken during the robbery.

The suspects fled out the front door on Terry Drive towards Millchop Lane.

The male victim was taken to KGH and later to Christiana Hospital.  The victim’s injuries are non-life threatening.

Detectives urge anyone with information pertaining to the aforementioned case to call Troop 3 (302) 697-4456 ext. 307 or Crime Stoppers 1-(800) TIP-3333.
