Investigate Fatal Crash

Kenton-The
Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is
currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred last night.
Yesterday at
8:40 p.m. troopers were dispatched to Wheatleys Pond Road north of
Seven Hickories Road to investigate a reported vehicle crash
involving bicyclist and one other vehicle.
Upon arrival at
the scene investigators learned a bicycle operated by Khalif
Robinson, 18, of Smyrna was traveling eastbound on Wheatleys
Pond Road in the roadway. According to investigators, Robinson was
wearing dark clothing and was not wearing helmet.
As Robinson
continued eastbound, he was struck by a 2006 Ford Ranger truck
traveling eastbound on Wheatleys Pond Road. The operator of the
truck Paul E. McVicker, Jr., 29, of Hartly, was
wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
Robinson was
thrown from the bicycle and landed on the shoulder of the roadway.
Robison was pronounced dead at the scene. Wheatleys Pond Road was
closed for approximately two hours while investigators examined the
scene.
Alcohol was not
a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation. No
charges will be filed against Mr. McVicker.
