Suspect Surrenders to Troopers

32-year-old Smyrna man surrendered to state troopers earlier today
after a warrant charging him with felony assault was obtained.
Brian A. Morris turned himself in at Troop 4 at 2:00 p.m.
Tuesday afternoon.
Morris was formally
charged with First Degree Assault and arraigned. He was committed
to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $30,000.00 secured
bond.

Troopers Investigate
Domestic Related Felony Assault near Georgetown

March 18, 2008
Georgetown-Troop
4 criminal investigators are currently investigating a felony
assault that sent a 42-year-old Georgetown man to the hospital with
serious injuries last night.
State Troopers were
dispatched to a residence located along the 19000 block of County
Seat Highway to investigate a reported assault. Upon arrival,
detectives learned at approximately 9:50 p.m., the suspect
identified as Brian A. Morris, 32, of the 500 block of W.
Commerce Street, Smyrna, and his girlfriend were at her home
allegedly drinking alcohol with the victim.
The 32-year-old
Georgetown woman told investigators, she and the victim dated
previously and he was still an acquaintance of both her and the
suspect. During this time a physical altercation between the two men
began. During the fight the suspect allegedly struck the victim
several times in the head with an unknown object. It’s unknown why
the two men began to fight.
As a result of the
confrontation, the victim sustained massive facial contusion and a
sever wound to the back of his head. The victim was transported to
Peninsula Regional Medical Center via Delaware State Police
helicopter. The victim was treated and admitted and is currently
listed in critical but stable condition.
Detectives have
obtained an arrest warrant charging Morris with one count of Felony
Assault.
