Charged with Felony Assault after Stabbing Incident

Milton-Delaware
State Police recently charged an 18-year-old Milton man with felony
assault and weapons charges stemming from a March 1, 2008 incident
which occurred at Hunter Mill Estates.
On Sunday March
2, 2008 at 5:26 p.m., state troopers from Troop 7 responded to
Hunter Mill Estates to investigate a reported stabbing. Upon
arrival officers contacted and interviewed the 19-year-old male
victim who is also from Milton.
According to
the victim, he and the suspect later identified as Travoris A.
Brittingham of the 28000 block of Nika Lane, Milton, had
recently ended their friendship. On March 1st at
approximately 11:00 p.m. Brittingham encountered the victim at a
party in Hunters Mill Estates.
Brittingham
allegedly displayed a switchblade-styled knife measuring
approximately eight to ten inches in length, and placed it against
the victim’s left cheek under his left eye.
The two men
engaged in a physical altercation and Brittingham allegedly slashed
the left side of the victim’s neck causing a one inch laceration and
then stabbed the victim in the left side of his waist causing a one
to two inch puncture wound. After the altercation Brittingham fled
the scene.
On Monday,
March 11, 2008 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Brittingham turned
himself in to troopers at Troop 7. He was formally charged with the
following criminal offenses: Assault 2nd Degree (F),
Aggravated Menacing (F) and Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the
Commission of a Felony (F).
Brittingham was
arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on
$10,000.00 unsecured bond.
