Bridgeville-
A Greenwood man was arrested
Saturday evening after he gave a false name and then fled from
the police.
George E. Willey Jr.,
43, of the 14000 block of Adamsville Road, Greenwood was
arrested on Saturday, March 1st after he gave a false
name to a Trooper who was investigating an assault. A lone
Trooper responded to the area of Sand Hill Road in Bridgeville
shortly before 6:00 p.m. after receiving a call of someone being
assaulted in a fight. During the investigation, Mr. Willey and
Deborah D. Moore,
45, of the 14000 block of Adamsville Road, Greenwood could not
provide identification to the Trooper and gave fictitious names.
The Trooper soon learned the identity of Ms. Moore and that she
had warrants for her arrest. While she was being placed in the
officer’s patrol car, Mr. Willey began to run into nearby woods.
The officer was able to catch Mr. Willey after a short foot
chase, and he was subdued after a brief struggle with the
Trooper.
When the
Trooper returned to his patrol vehicle, Ms. Moore had managed to
escape out of the car and flee the area undetected. Mr. Willey’s
correct identity was obtained and he was found to have warrants
out of local courts. A search of Mr. Willey resulted in less
than a gram of suspected marijuana.
Mr. Willey
was transported back to Troop 5 where he was charged with the
following: Resisting Arrest (felony), Disorderly Conduct
(misdemeanor), Criminal Impersonation (misdemeanor), Possession
of Marijuana (misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
(misdemeanor), and Driving Under the Influence. He was arraigned
at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex
Correctional Institute in Georgetown on default of $4639.00 cash
bond.
Ms. Moore is
currently wanted out of Troop 4 on charges of Robbery First
Degree (felony), Offensive Touching (misdemeanor), and Criminal
Mischief (misdemeanor). She is also wanted by Troopers at Troop
5 for Escape Third Degree (misdemeanor), Criminal Impersonation
(misdemeanor), and Theft (misdemeanor) as well as other charges
