Harbeson Man Shot in Home Invasion

Updated Release – Sunday, March 02, 2008 (9:30 a.m.)

Harbeson – On Friday, February 29th, State Police Detectives received information into the identities of the subjects wanted in connection of the home invasion robbery in Harbeson.

Detectives learned through a tip, that two of the three suspects were staying at a residence in the Diamond Acres Community north of Dagsboro. Rodney G. Terry, 18, of the 400 block of North Avenue, and Michael S. Lawson, 21, of the 3000 block of Woodmoor Road, both of Baltimore, Maryland were located by police at the residence and taken into custody.

The investigation revealed that the three suspects had forced their way into the home at the 28000 block of Aleine Avenue, Harbeson and demanded money from the homeowner. The victim was able to flee the residence and was shot at numerous times, striking him in the back and upper leg. While fleeing to a nearby neighbor’s house, the suspects continued to shoot at the victim striking the dwelling which was occupied by the homeowners and their 13 year old child. No one in this house was injured and the suspects never made contact with them.

The victim was able to make contact with the neighbor who then alerted the Police and Emergency Medical Services. He was then transported by ambulance to Beebe Hospital where he is still listed in stable condition.

Mr. Terry and Mr. Lawson were both charged with the following: Attempted Murder First Degree (felony), Attempted Robbery First Degree (felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (felony), three counts of Reckless Endangering First Degree (felony), Conspiracy First Degree (felony), and two counts of Criminal Mischief (misdemeanor). They were both remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections at Sussex Correctional Institute in Georgetown on default of $242,500.00 cash bond.

Harbeson Man Shot in Home Invasion

Harbeson- An early morning home invasion Robbery leads to the home owner being shot.

On Thursday, February 28th at approximately 2:39 a.m. Troopers responded to a report of a Robbery in the area of the 28000 block of Aleine Ave, Harbeson. It was reported to the investigators that three black males entered the home and demanded money. When the homeowner refused, the male 32 year old victim was then battered by one of the assailants with the butt of a shot gun. The victim was able to flee his house and in the course of running away, he was shot at numerous times and struck in the back and upper leg.

Once at a neighbor’s residence, the suspects continued shooting at the victim striking the house which three more victims were put in harms way, one being a 13 year old. No one in this house was injured and the suspects never made contact with them.

The victim was able to make contact with the neighbor who then alerted the Police and Emergency Medical Services. He was then transported by ambulance to Beebe Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The three males were described as 5’5” – 6’00” tall wearing black sweatshirts and wearing an unknown item to cover their face. Two of them were observed carrying shotguns and another was carrying a handgun.
