Three Bundles of Marijuana Seized in Traffic Stop

Harrington-
On Thursday, February 28th,
at approximately 9:35 a.m., a Trooper with less than a week on
patrol makes a traffic stop that nets over 140 lbs of marijuana.
The young
Trooper and his Field Training Officer were traveling southbound
on US 13 in the area of Clark St, Harrington when they observed
a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer bearing the registration that should
have been on a 1988 Mazda.
The duo
stopped the Blazer south of Harrington contacting the driver,
and sole occupant, Sherri N.
Taylor, 22, of Norfolk, Virginia who was found to
have a suspended license. While being questioned about her
vehicle, she gave information that didn’t match DMV records. The
officers then observed a green leafy substance, believed to be
marijuana in the center console.
As the
investigation continued, the Troopers seized a total of 140
pounds of suspected marijuana which was bundled into three
separate large laundry bags.
Ms. Taylor
was transported back to Troop 3 (Camden) where she was booked on
charges of Trafficking in Marijuana (felony), Possession with
Intent to Deliver Marijuana (felony), Maintaining a Vehicle for
Keeping Narcotics (felony), Maintaining a Vehicle for Drug
Distribution (felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
(misdemeanor), Driving Without a Valid License, Failure to Have
Minimum Insurance, and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
Ms. Taylor
was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 (Dover) and
remanded to the Women’s Correctional Institution in default of
$152,160.00 secured bond.
