Victim Identified in Fatal Crash

Millville-The Delaware State Police are releasing the
following information regarding a fatal vehicle crash reported
yesterday. The operator has been positively identified as
Mark T. Mudry, 49, of Ocean View, Delaware. The crash
remains under investigation.

Fatal Crash Sets Millville Business Ablaze
Released-Sunday, February 3, 2008
Millville-
On Sunday, February 3, 2008 at approximately 1:20 a.m., the
Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU)
responded to 524 Atlantic Avenue (SR 26) to investigate a fatal
crash involving one vehicle and a building known as the
Millville Peddler.
Upon arrival
investigators learned a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina was traveling
westbound on Atlantic Avenue when it traveled off the north edge
of the road and struck a mailbox. After hitting the mailbox,
the Lumina veered left out of control and crossed Atlantic
Avenue exiting the south edge of the road.
After exiting
the south edge of the road, the Lumina struck a utility pole
with its’ left side and continued eastbound on Atlantic Avenue
crashing into the Millville Peddler. The Lumina and the
structure caught fire.
The Millville
Fire Dept. responded and found the deceased male driver inside
the Lumina. It’s unknown if the operator was wearing a
seatbelt. Alcohol involvement is unknown. The body was burned
beyond recognition and turned over to the Medical Examiners
Office for identification purposes.
The name of the
deceased will be released as soon as official identification by
the Medical Examiners Office can be made and next of kin are
notified.
The crash
remains under investigation. Atlantic Avenue east of Whites
Neck Road was closed for approximately five hours while
investigators examined the scene and local fire departments
battled the blaze.
