Citizen’s Tip Leads to Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspect

Felton-Earlier
today, state police detectives charged a Greenwood teen with robbery
and weapons offenses. The suspect allegedly robbed the Uncle
Willey's convenience store located at 12984 S DuPont Hwy., Felton,
on January 9, 2008.
On Tuesday,
January 29, 2008, state police detectives interviewed a concerned
citizen who observed a photograph of the suspect that was released
to the media. This image was a still taken from the security tape
of the robbery.
During the
investigation, Michael Griffis, 18, was developed as the
suspect. Griffis last known address was in Greenwood, Delaware.
Griffis confessed to the crime during an interview with police. He
was formally charged with Robbery 1st Degree (felony) and
Possession of a Firearm during Commission of a Felony (felony).
Griffis was
arraigned and committed to the Delaware Correctional Center in lieu
of $35,000.00 secured bail.

State Police Seek Publics’ Help with Identifying Armed Robbery
Suspect

Felton-The
Delaware State Police seeks the publics’ help with identifying a
suspect who robbed the Uncle Willey’s convenience store early
Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at approximately 1:30 a.m. troopers
responded to the Uncle Willey's convenience store located at 12984 S
DuPont Hwy., Felton to investigate a reported armed robbery. Upon
arrival troopers contacted the clerk who confirmed that she had been
robbed at gun point.
According to the clerk, the suspect described as a white male
wearing a black jacket, white shirt, blue jeans, and a black knit
hat had been loitering outside the store. The suspect approached the
clerk, demanded money and displayed a small silver semi-automatic
pistol with a white pearl handle.
The clerk complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of
cash from the register. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown
direction. The suspect is believed to be between the ages of
seventeen to twenty-five, 5’08” to 5’11” tall with a thin build.
