Two Charged with First Degree Murder and Arson during Dover Area
Homicide Investigation

Dover- On Tuesday,
January 29, 2008, the State Police and the Office of the State Fire
Marshal charged two men in connection with the homicide of
54-year-old Nikolaos Lyristis, of Dover.
Dion D. Gibbs, 24, of
Wilmington and Eric Dolby, Jr., 18, of New Castle were
developed as suspects on Tuesday after information was obtained from
a concerned citizen linking them to the murder of Mr. Lyristis.
With the assistance from the Dover Police Department, state
troopers from Troop 3, Kent County Drug & Governor’s Task Force
units and the State Police Special Operations Response Team took the
two defendants into custody Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:07
p.m.
Gibbs was apprehended at Fulton Street and North Governor's Ave, and
Dolby at a nearby residence in Dover. At that time Gibbs was in
possession of a pistol and knife.
As
a result of the investigation troopers formally charged Dion D.
Gibbs with Murder 1st Degree (felony), Conspiracy 1st
Degree (felony), Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (felony) and
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (felony). The State
Fire Marshal charged Gibbs with Arson 1st Degree
(felony).
Gibbs was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and ordered
held without bail on the Murder charge and committed to the Delaware
Correctional Center in lieu of $80,000.00 cash bail for the Carrying
a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Person
Prohibited and Arson charges.
Eric Dolby, Jr. was formally charged with
Murder 1st
Degree (felony) and Conspiracy 1st Degree (felony). The
State Fire Marshal charged Dolby with Arson 1st Degree
(felony). Dolby was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 2
and ordered held without bail on the Murder charge and committed to
the Delaware Correctional Center in lieu of $60,000.00 cash bail for
the Arson and Conspiracy charges.
The Delaware State Police would like to thank the Dover Police

Dover- The
Delaware State Police are providing the following updated
information regarding the car fire that occurred on Peachtree Run
south of Lochmeath Way, Dover. The Medical Examiner’s Office has
ruled the manner of death of the victim, 54-year old Nikolaos
Lyristis, of Dover, a homicide.
The silver
1983 Mercedes Benz was located fully engulfed in flames, which the
Camden-Wyoming Fire Department, extinguished. Lyristis’ body was
located inside the vehicle.

Dover-
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is requesting anyone with
information pertaining to the death investigation that occurred on
Peachtree Run, south of Lochmeath Way, Dover to contact Det Mike

The investigation is currently on going and further information will
be released as it becomes available.

Dover-
On Sunday, January 27, 2008 at approximately 12:45 am, Troopers and
the Camden-Wyoming Fire Department responded to Peachtree Run, south
of Lochmeath Way, for a car fire.
Initial reports are that a passerby observed the car on fire and
called 911. Upon arrival at the scene fire personnel extinguished
the fire. This investigation is currently underway and has revealed
one deceased person who was located inside the vehicle. At the
present time identity and vehicle information has not been
confirmed.
Due to the suspicious
manner of death the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is working
in conjunction with the Fire Marshall Office and the Medical
Examiner. More information will be released as it becomes
available.
