Robbery Suspect Apprehended by Federalsburg Police

Monday evening at approximately 6:50 p.m., the Federalsburg Police
Department apprehended a Maryland man wanted by Delaware State
Troopers for First Degree Robbery.
Elvis J. Batson,
30, of the 27900 block of Hickory Hill Road, Federalsburg, Md. was
taken into custody in the area of East Central Ave. after a police
officer recognized him as a wanted person from Delaware. Batson is
being held at the Caroline County Detention Center without bail
pending extradition to Delaware.
The Delaware State Police would like to thank the Federalsburg
Police Department, members of the media and citizens who helped with
this case.

Man Sought by Police in Connection with Armed Robbery

State Police criminal investigators have obtained an arrest warrant
for a Federalsburg Maryland man wanted in connection with an armed
robbery that occurred on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at approximately
3:00 a.m.
Elvis J. Batson,
30, of Federalsburg, Maryland is being sought by troopers for
allegedly robbing two Salisbury Maryland women. During their
investigation troopers learned Batson followed the women after they
left the Midway Slots & Simulcast in Harrington. Batson allegedly
robbed the women at gunpoint along US 13 north of Seaford.
Elvis J. Batson is described as a black male, 5’11” tall, 225 lbs,
with black hair and brown eyes. Batson’s last known address was
along the 27900 block of Hickory Hill Road, Federalsburg, Md. Batson
should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be
approached by the public.

State Troopers Investigate Kent County Robberies

Dover-On
Sunday, January 13, 2008 state police detectives were contacted in
reference to a late reported armed robbery. The victims in this
case, a Maryland couple, responded to Troop 3 a week after the
alleged incident occurred.
The victims told investigators they left the Dover Downs Hotel and
Casino on January 6 at approximately 2:00 a.m. As they left the
parking lot, they noticed a vehicle leaving from the same parking
lot behind them.
As the couple proceeded to drive toward Maryland, the suspect
vehicle continued behind them and they eventually pulled over into a
driveway off of Dover-Kenton Road. The two victims told police they
hoped the suspect vehicle would pass. Instead of passing the suspect
pulled behind their vehicle and stopped.
According to the victims, the suspect described as a black male,
exited the suspect vehicle, approached them, and proceeded to rob
them at gunpoint. This investigation is ongoing.
Harrington-Criminal
investigators at Troop 3 are currently investigation a strong-armed
robbery that occurred in the parking lot of the Midway Slots and
Simulcast on Saturday, January 19, 2008.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:00 a.m.
Upon arrival investigators contacted a 61-year-old Harrington woman
who had been punched in the face and robbed. The victim suffered a
bruise to her face could provide no suspect information. No weapon
was displayed during this incident.
These investigations are ongoing and investigators are following
several leads. State Police detectives believe aforementioned
incidents may be related and ask anyone with information to contact

Law enforcement is asking for the publics’ continued support in
cases such as these. The Delaware State Police would like to remind
citizens who may be in the general vicinity of Dover Downs Hotel &
Casino and or the Midway Slots & Simulcast in Harrington to remain
cognizant of their surroundings and to immediately report any
suspicious activities to police. |
