UPDATE, OPERATOR OF VEHICLE INVOLVED IN US 13 CRASH DIES FROM INJURIES

DSP News Release: Operator of Vehicle Involved in US#13 Crash Dies from Injuries
Resume: Newark- Crystal D. Lenear, 43, of Middletown, DE, has died from the injuries she sustained in the three vehicle crash that occurred on US#13 south of the SR#1 ramp, on Friday, September 16, 2011. Lenear, who had been admitted to the Christiana Hospital since the crash, was pronounced dead on Monday, September 19 at 10:13 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.

DSP News Release: Two Injured in Three Vehicle Crash
Location: Southbound US Rt. 13 south of the SR 1 ramp, 1 mile south of St. Georges, DE
Date of Occurrence: Friday, September 16, 2011 at 5:33 p.m.

Operator #2: Suzanne Shelton, 44, Smyrna, DE Vehicle #2: 2003 Mazda MPV
Operator #3: Marika A. Feldcamp, 59, Townsend, DE Vehicle #3: 2009 Ford Mustang
Resume: St. Georges, DE- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash involving three cars that occurred late yesterday afternoon in St. Georges, DE.
The incident happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. yesterday, September 16, as Crystal Lenear was operating a 2007 Nissan Altima and was traveling northbound on US Rt. 13 south of St. Georges. For an unknown reason, Lenear lost control of her vehicle and traveled across the grass median. Lenear’s vehicle then entered the southbound lanes of Rt. 13 where it struck a 2003 Mazda MPV that was being operated by Suzanne Shelton head on. Shelton’s vehicle was then struck in the rear by a 2009 Ford Mustang that was also traveling on southbound Rt. 13 and which was being operated by Marika Feldcamp. After the collision, the Mazda MPV overturned and came to a rest on the shoulder just west of the southbound lanes.
Crystal Lenear was removed from the scene of the crash by EMS and transported to the Christiana Hospital where she was being treated for serious injuries. Suzanne Shelton was also transported to the Christiana Hospital by EMS where she was treated for non life threatening injuries. Marika Feldcamp was not injured.
Southbound US Rt. 13 was closed for approximately 2.5 hrs as the crash was investigated and cleared.
The investigation into this crash is continuing. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed this accident to contact the Crash Reconstruction Unit at Troop 2 at 302-834-2620 ext. 278.

DSP News Release: Southbound Lanes of Rt. 13 Re-Opened
Resume: St. Georges, DE- The southbound lanes of US Rt. 13 in St. Georges have been re-opened at this time.
This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit at this time. A complete detailed news release will be forthcoming at a later time.

DSP News Release: Troopers on Scene of Serious Motor Vehicle Crash
Location: Southbound US Rt. 13 just south of St. Georges, DE
Date of Occurrence: Friday, September 16, 2011 at approximately 5:50 p.m.
Resume: St. Georges, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently at the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash on southbound US Rt. 13 in St. Georges. Initial information is that there are possibly three vehicles involved in the crash and multiple injuries.
The southbound lanes of US Rt. 13 are closed at the scene and commuters are asked to take alternate routes of travel.
Further information will be released once it is received.
