DSP News Release: Two Arrested on Drug Charges Following Investigation

Date of Occurrence:  Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 2:05 p.m.

Defendants and Charges:    

-Deshaune D. Darling, 35, Dover, DE

-Possession of a Controlled Substance

-Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

-Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited

-Possession of an Automatic Weapon by a Person Prohibited in Possession of a    

 Controlled Substance

-Resisting Arrest

-Tampering with Physical Evidence

-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Arraigned at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas. Committed to the James Vaughn Correctional Facility for lack of $43,600.00 cash bail.

-17 year old Dover, DE male

-Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

-Possession of Marijuana

Arraigned at the Kent County Family Court. Released on $3500.00 unsecured bail.

Dover, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested two subjects after a four month long investigation into illegal drug sales in the Dover, DE area.

On Wednesday, September 14, members of the Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit, along with the Kent County Governors Task Force, and the Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T.) executed a search warrant at a residence located in the unit block of Pine Cabin Road in Dover. The search was the culmination of a four month long investigation into the distribution of cocaine in the Dover area. Upon executing the search, troopers found Deshaune Darling, 35, in a bathroom of the home. Darling was attempting to hold the bathroom door closed as he was flushing what was found to be several bags of cocaine down the toilet. SORT team members were able to gain entry into the bathroom and took Darling into custody after a brief struggle. Troopers recovered a plastic bag containing numerous smaller bags of cocaine from the toilet. A total of 12.1 grams of cocaine and 1.8 grams of marijuana were located inside of the residence during the search. A Ruger 9 mm handgun, ammunition, digital scale, and over $1,100.00 in suspect drug proceeds were also located.

Deshaune Darling as well as a 17 year old male were both arrested and charged with the above listed crimes.
