UPDATE, TWO INJURED IN CHAIN REACTION CRASH

Updated Crash Information:
Two Injured in Chain Reaction Crash
Operator, Passenger and Vehicle Information:
Stanton, De-Today at 2:16 p.m. Delaware State Police investigated a three vehicle crash which injured 2 persons, sending them both to the Hospital. The crash occurred in the left turn lane of Delaware Route 7 northbound and Delaware Route 4 westbound.
The investigation revealed a 2006 Delaware State Police Ford Crown Victoria was stopped in the left turn lane of DE route 7 northbound for a red-light and was driven by a 16 year veteran (female) Trooper.
The 2nd vehicle a 2005 BMW X5 was also stopped for the red-light directly behind the State Police patrol vehicle and was driven by 55 year old Jane Jimenez of Newark Delaware.
The crash occurred when the 3rd vehicle a 2003 Nissan Sentra driven by Jennifer N. Reader, 25 of New Castle Delaware failed to stop in time for traffic. Reader’s Nissan struck the rear of the BMW, which pushed it forward into the rear of the State Police vehicle (Chain reaction crash).
Reader and her front seat passenger Gary McIntosh II, 30 both of Newark were taken to Christiana Hospital, treated and admitted for injuries suffered in the crash. The 2 year old passenger of the Nissan was not injured. Reader and McIntosh were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
No citations have been issued the investigation is continuing.

DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Two Vehicle Personal Injury Accident
Location: DE Rt. 4 and DE Rt. 7, Stanton, DE
Date of Occurrence: Friday, September 09, 2011 at 2:16 p.m.
Resume: Stanton, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a personal injury accident that occurred this afternoon in Stanton. Initial information is that a Delaware State Trooper and a second vehicle are involved in the collision and several individuals have been injured. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
The investigation into this crash is in its early stages.
