Resume

Hartly, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Hartly man after he committed the robbery of an area convenience store late yesterday evening.

The incident began as a male suspect entered the Royal Farms Convenience Store located in the 6500 block of Halltown Road, Hartly, DE at approximately 10:45 p.m. last night. The suspect produced a folding knife and pointed it at two male employees who were working behind the sales counter. The suspect then demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash from the registers before exiting the store. He was then observed fleeing the parking lot on a gold colored motorcycle. The clerks were not injured.

A short time later, troopers were told to respond to the area of the 1800 block of Hartly Road (SR 44) for the report of a motorcycle accident that had just occurred. Upon arriving at the scene, troopers observed a gold colored motorcycle and were advised by witnesses that the operator fled on foot into a nearby field. The responding troopers then conducted a search of the area and were able to locate a male subject, later identified as Jesse R. Longfellow. Longfellow was then taken into custody without incident.

During a search of Longfellow, troopers located a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine in one of his pants pockets. They also learned that the motorcycle Longfellow had been operating, a 2005 Kawasaki, belonged to a subject he shared a house with, and had been taken without his permission.

Detectives arrested and charged Longfellow with the above list of charges. He was arraigned at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas and then committed to the Department of Corrections for lack of $50,000.00 bail.
