UPDATE LAUREL BARRICADE INCIDENT

Update Laurel Barricade Incident
Laurel, De-The Laurel man who barricaded himself inside the Laurel home early Friday morning has died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Laurel man was initially transported to Nanticoke Hospital and later Friday September 2nd flown to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. The Laurel man died Saturday September 3rd.

Laurel, De-Delaware State Police around 8:15 a.m. entered the residence on Randall Street Laurel and discovered the 20 year old Laurel man in the living room with apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. (Specifics as to the location of the gunshot wound are currently not being released.)
The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Releasable information will be disseminated as soon as it becomes available. Delaware State Police and the Department of Transportation have reopened SR 24 to traffic.

Update Laurel Barricaded Subject: Laurel, De-The Laurel incident is still active as members of the Delaware State Police Conflict Management Team continue to speak with the 20 year old man held up inside his residence. State Police negotiators are continuing to communicate with the 20 year old man with hopes of having him surrender to authorities.
The Laurel man is in possession of a firearm and has discharged it a number of times from inside and outside of the residence. Due to the firearm being discharged Delaware State Police and the Department of Transportation have closed down SR 24 between Horsey’s Pond and Meadow Branch Drive Laurel.
There still are no reported injuries.

DSP News Release: State Police on Scene of Barricaded Subject

Resume: Laurel, De-Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a barricaded suicidal person on the 9000 block of Randall Street W/O the town limits of Laurel Delaware. Randall Street is off of SR 24.
The incident began just after midnight when the Delaware State Police Emergency Operations Center (911) received a call from a 20 year old man threatening to do harm to himself.
Laurel Police Department was first on scene and began to ascertain information prior to State Police arrival. Troopers arrived shortly after Laurel Police and have established contact with a 20 year old Laurel man.
Members of the Delaware State Police Conflict Management Team, Special Operations Response Team, State Police Medics and additional support units are currently assisting in the incident.
The Conflict Management Team is currently in contact with the 20 year old Laurel man, monitoring the situation attempting to have him surrender to authorities.
Additional information surrounding the incident will be updated as soon as practical. There currently are no reported injuries involved in this situation.
