DSP News Release: State Police on Scene of Barricaded Subject

• 20 year old Laurel man (Elk Mills, Maryland)

Resume:

Laurel, De-Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a barricaded suicidal person on the 9000 block of Randall Street W/O the town limits of Laurel Delaware.  Randall Street is off of SR 24. 

The incident began just after midnight when the Delaware State Police Emergency Operations Center (911) received a call regarding from a 20 year old man threatening to do harm to himself. 

Laurel Police Department was first on scene and began to ascertain information prior to State Police arrival.  Troopers arrived shortly after Laurel Police and have established contact with a 20 year old Laurel man. 

Members of the Delaware State Police Conflict Management Team, Special Operations Response Team, State Police Medics and additional support units are currently assisting in the incident. 

The Conflict Management Team is currently in contact with the 20 year old Laurel man, monitoring the situation attempting to have him surrender to authorities. 

Additional information surrounding the incident will be updated as soon as practical.  There currently are no reported injuries involved in this situation. 

Traffic Advisory:  SR 24 is currently open however motorist should expect delays in the area of SR 24 and Randall Road as the situation unfolds.
