LEWES MAN CHARGED WITH DUI AFTER MORNING CRASH


DSP News Release: Lewes Man Charged with DUI after Morning Crash

 Resume:

Lewes, De-Early Thursday morning Delaware State Police investigated a two vehicle crash on Plantation’s Road Lewes Delaware. 

 

The crash involved a GMC Serria pickup driven by Steven Patts-23 of Lewes and a Jeep Cherokee operated by Randall Cowen-50 of Georgetown.  

 

The investigation revealed Patts was northbound on Plantation Road when he crossed the double solid line and traveled into the southbound lane of Plantation Road.  Patts’ pickup then struck Cowen’s Jeep Cherokee on the driver’s side door. 

 

Cowen’s vehicle following the initial collision traveled a short distance before overturning.  Plantations Road was closed for approximately 30 minutes while the crash was being investigated. 

 

Cowen sustained head trauma, back strain and was treated and released from Beebe Hospital.  Patts suffered minor contusions and abrasions however refused treatment. 

 

 State Police cited Patts for Driving under the Influence of Drugs, Driving while suspended and Failure to maintain his Lane.  Patts was released on his own recognizance.
