LAUREL MAN CHARGED IN DEATH OF MISSING BRIDGEVILLE MAN


Laurel Man Charged in Death of Missing Bridgeville Man

Resume Update:

Bridgeville, De-Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives today have charged Dashawn Collins-20 of Laurel Delaware with the death of William Seaton the 4th of Bridgeville Delaware.

 

Seaton-35 of Bridgeville Delaware has been missing since August 8th 2011.  Seaton was last seen by his mother on Monday August 8th around 10 p.m. after they returned home from running errands. 

 

The following morning Seaton’s mother looked for him and discovered he was not at their residence.  Since Seaton’s disappearance his mother has not been able to contact him. 

 

Delaware State Police Troop 5 initiated a missing person’s investigation and Gold Alert activation for Seaton and the case was turned over to State Police Detectives. 

 

Wednesday August 31, 2011 a Laurel Police Officer stopped a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero within the town limits of Laurel.  After completing a computer inquiry into the vehicle’s registration the Laurel Officer discovered the vehicle belonged to Seaton.

 

The driver of Seaton’s vehicle was identified as Dashawn Collins of Laurel Delaware.  Collins and three additional passengers were detained for Receiving Stolen Property (Oldsmobile Alero) and Conspiracy 2nd degree. 

 

A subsequent interview by Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives resulted in the disclosure of Collins as a suspect in Seaton’s disappearance.  Homicide Detectives additionally obtained search warrants for Seaton’s vehicle and an abandoned residence on the 32000 block of Gordy Road Laurel Delaware. 

 

As a result of the two searches Detectives recovered a quantity of blood presumably belonging to William Seaton the 4th inside the Oldsmobile Alero.  The search of the Gordy Road residence resulted in the recovery of a decomposed human body clothed in a red shirt, shorts and white sneakers.  The clothing recovered is consistent with clothes Seaton was last seen wearing August 8th 2011. 

 

The blood evidence and recovered body has been turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will perform a post-mortem examination.  From this examination the official cause of death and positive identification of the deceased will be established.

 

The Homicide investigation revealed Collins and Seaton initially met by way of the internet 3 weeks prior to Seaton’s disappearance.  Sometime during this 3 week period Collins and Seaton are alleged to have traveled together, in Seaton’s car to the parking lot of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Old Stage Road Laurel Delaware. 

 

When Collins and Seaton met at this location, an altercation occurred between the two which resulted in Collins allegedly assaulting Seaton and stabbing him in the neck an undetermined number of times with a knife. 

 

The victim is alleged to have been placed in the trunk of his car by Collins and driven to the abandoned residence on Gordy Road.  Homicide Detectives searched the residence Wednesday August 31st and located the decomposed remains of Seaton. 

 

Collins has been charged by Homicide Detectives with Murder 1st degree, Possession of a Deadly during the Commission of a Felony and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.  Collins was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and currently is being held without bail at the Sussex Correctional Institute Georgetown Delaware. 

 

Collins is also being held on a Violation of Probation bond issued by the Delaware Department of Probation and Parole.

Gold Alert William Seaton Bridgeville

 

DSP News Release: 

Bridgeville-Delaware State Police is issuing a Gold Alert for missing person William Seaton the 4th of Bridgeville Delaware. 

 

Seaton has been missing since Monday August 8th 2011.  Seaton-35 is a black male, 6”01” approximately 148 lbs., unknown clothing description. 

 

After receiving additional medical information about Seaton, it was determined that his medical condition is such that there is a real concern for his welfare.

 Resume:

Bridgeville-Delaware State Police are investigating the disappearance of William Seaton the 4th of Bridgeville Delaware. 

 

Delaware State Police were contacted on Tuesday August 9th regarding Seaton’s disappearance.  The investigation revealed Seaton was last seen by his mother on Monday August 8th around 10 p.m. after the two of them returned home from running errands. 

 

The following morning when Seaton’s mother looked for him she discovered he was not at their residence.  Seaton a Mountaire employee from the Selbyville plant also has not been to work or obtained his work checks. 

 

Seaton’s mother also has not been able to contact him through his cell phone.   Seaton may be operating a black 2001 Oldsmobile Alero displaying Delaware registration 308027. 

 

Delaware State Police detectives are actively investigating Seaton’s disappearance and request the public’s assistance in the investigation.  At this time Seaton’s disappearance is considered unusual, however there is no evidence which indicates foul play.
