Resume

Newark- Delaware State Troopers are investigating an accident on I-95 southbound at Churchmans Marsh that involved two school buses, a tractor trailer, and a passenger car.

An initial investigation indicates Billy McLaurin, 65, of New Castle, was operating a 2000 International school bus on I-95 southbound in the right lane, at Churchmans Marsh. Daniel Hogan, 55, of Ephrata, Pa, was operating a 2009 Freightliner and trailer behind McLaurin’s bus. The front of the tractor trailer struck the rear of the bus, causing the bus to travel onto the right shoulder and strike the concrete barrier. Almost simultaneously, a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica operated by Nakia Brown, 33, of New Castle, struck the rear of the tractor trailer, and a 2011 International school bus, operated by Linda Frazer, 69, of Elkton, Md, sideswiped the front of the tractor trailer, damaging the bus’s side view mirror.

McLaurin and Brown were transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Several lanes of traffic were shut down for approximately 1.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

Troopers are still investigating this accident in order to determine the precise sequence of events and location of vehicles prior to impact. No charges have been filed.
