DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Robbery/Assault, Superlodge Motel, New Castle

·         Superlodge Motel (parking lot), 1213 West Avenue, New Castle, DE

Date of Occurrence:  

·         Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10:00 p.m.

Victim:

·         45 year old male from Wilmington

Suspect:

·         Black male, 30-40 years of age, 6’01”-6’02” tall, 140-150 lbs, thin build. Last seen wearing black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.  Suspect armed with a glass bottle

·         No surveillance photo’s available at this time

Resume:

New Castle- Troopers are investigating the robbery and assault of a 45 year old man last evening as he was walking through the parking lot of the Superlodge Motel, New Castle.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. last evening as the victim, a motel guest, was walking his dog in the parking lot of motel.  The victim was approached by a male suspect who struck him in the head with a glass bottle and demanded his cash and property.  The suspect forced the victim to the ground and the struggle continued.  The suspect removed an undisclosed amount of money and prescription medication from the victim’s pants pockets, and fled on foot.

The victim received non life threatening injuries to his head and face and was transported to a local hospital for treatment (status and disposition of treatment unknown at the time of this release).
