TROOPERS PROBE FATAL CRASH IN WYOMING, DE


DSP News Release:  Troopers Probe Fatal Crash in Wyoming, DE

 

Location: SR 10 (Willow Grove Road) .3 miles west of Steele’s Ridge Road, Wyoming, DE

 

Date and Time of Occurrence:  Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 9:50 a.m.

 

Operator and Vehicle:

 

-Operator: 71 year old Greensboro, MD woman

-Vehicle: 1991 Toyota Camry

 

Resume: 

Wyoming, DE- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a one vehicle collision that occurred this morning just west of Wyoming, DE.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. as a 71 year old Greensboro, MD woman was operating a 1991 Toyota Camry and was traveling westbound on SR 10 just west of Steele’s Ridge Road. For an unknown reason the operator failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway and left the south edge of the road. The Camry then traveled approximately 330 feet through a field and over a ditch. It then came to rest after striking the side of a mobile home.  The victim was transported from the scene by EMS to the Kent General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her body was turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. The victim’s name is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin.

 

The owner of the mobile home that was struck by the Camry was inside at the time of the crash but was not injured.

 

This crash remains under investigation at this time.
