DSP News Release:  New Castle Man Arrested After Robbery

New Castle-Delaware State Police have arrested a New Castle man in connection with a robbery that occurred at the King Garden Restaurant, New Castle last night. 

The incident occurred on Friday, October 21, 2011 at approximately 8:38 p.m. as the 51 year old male employee of the King Garden Restaurant was attempting to enter the restaurant through a rear door located in a driveway behind the business.  The victim was approached by a male suspect wearing a mask covering his face and displayed a handgun, pressed the barrel of the handgun to the victim’s abdomen and demanded money.  The victim complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash.  The suspect fled the scene northbound through the complex on a bicycle.  The victim was not injured during this incident.

Responding Troopers searched the area for the suspect, assisted by a New Castle County Police K-9 handler and K-9 partner “Orca”.  NCCPD K-9 conducted a track to the Pine Valley Apartments located at 500 South Dupont Highway, New Castle.  The track concluded at Building 4B, where after further investigation Defendant Devon Daniels-22 of New Castle was located inside of an apartment and connected to the robbery.  A black BB gun that resembled a real handgun was also located inside the apartment.  Daniels was taken into custody without incident and charged with the above crimes.  He was committed to HRYCI on $6000.00 Secured Bond.
