FOUR INJURED IN LEWES ROLLOVER CRASH

DSP News Release: Four Injured in Lewes Rollover Crash
Location: Robinsville Road south of Kendale Road, Lewes, DE
Date and Time of Occurrence: Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 8:05 p.m.

Resume: Lewes, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a one vehicle crash in which four people were injured that occurred yesterday evening in Lewes.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:05 p.m. yesterday as Ryan W. Wharton was operating a 1997 Jeep Wrangler and was traveling southbound on Robinsville Road south of Kendale Road in Lewes. For an unknown reason, Wharton’s vehicle left the west edge of the roadway where it overturned three times ejecting Wharton and two passengers in his vehicle, Maria Pineda and James Widdoes.
Ryan Wharton was flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to the Christiana Hospital in Newark where he was being treated for non life threatening injuries. Maria Pineda, James Widdoes, and a third passenger, Jeremy Steele, were all transported from the scene by EMS to the Beebe Memorial Hospital where they were also treated for non life threatening injuries.
Ryan Wharton, Maria Pineda, and James Widdoes were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol is being considered a factor in this crash which is still under investigation.
