UPDATE, WILMINGTON MAN ARRESTED AFTER ASSAULT IN STORE

Darrell J. Coleman has been released from the Christiana Hospital. He was arraigned at JP Court 11 and then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution for lack of $1000.00 secured bail.

DSP News Release: Wilmington Man Arrested after Assault in Store
Location: Burlington Coat Factory, 59 University Plaza, Newark, DE
Date of Occurrence: Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11:20 a.m.
Victims:
-31 year old Bear, DE man (employee) -72 year old Avondale, PA woman (customer)
Defendant and Charges (warrants on file):
-Darrell J. Coleman, 20, Wilmington, DE
-Assault 2nd Degree -Resisting Arrest -Assault 3rd Degree -Criminal Mischief -Indecent Exposure 2nd Degree
Resume: Newark, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested a 20 year old Wilmington, DE man after he removed his clothes and assaulted a store employee at a Newark area store this morning.
The incident began at approximately 11:20 a.m. this morning as Darrell J. Coleman entered the Burlington Coat Factory store located in the University Plaza Shopping Center in Newark and removed all of his clothing. Coleman then began running around the store mumbling to himself, and at one point, collided with a 72 year old female customer, knocking her into a mirror. The suspect was then confronted by an employee of the store who told him to leave. The employee was then punched and tackled by Coleman who then proceeded to assault him. A second employee then assisted in attempting to restrain Coleman until several responding troopers arrived. Coleman was then arrested after a struggle and transported to the Christiana Hospital where he has been treated for minor injuries and admitted for a medical evaluation. The 31 year old employee was also transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated and released for the injuries he sustained in the struggle with Coleman. The female customer also suffered minor injuries but refused treatment.
Troopers have obtained warrants charging Darrell Coleman with the above list of crimes. He will be arraigned upon his release from the Christiana Hospital.
