DSP News Release: Victim Identified in Death Investigation, New Castle 

Location:

Date of Occurrence:

·         Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.

Victim:

·         Eric A. Jones, 49 years of age, reported homeless from the Stanton area

Resume:

New Castle-Delaware State Police Detectives continue their investigation into the recovery of a body at the All Star Shredding and Recycling facility in New Castle and have identified the victim as Eric A. Jones-49 reported homeless from the Stanton, DE area.

Preliminary investigation and interviews by Delaware State Police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner indicate that Jones was a homeless man from the Stanton area.  Preliminary findings also suggest that the victim suffered pre-mortem and post-mortem injuries consistent with the powerful crushing ability of being within a compactor utilized by a recycle truck.  The truck picks up from recycle dumpsters and containers, dumping and then compacting the contents in the back of the truck.  The truck then transports the recyclable material such as cardboard, to a recycling facility. 

No foul play is indicated at this time in the death of Jones and it is still not clear as to the origin of the recycle dumpster, and as to when and where the victim may have been located.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for specific cause and manner of death, as well as toxicology reports.  Once the autopsy is completed the results can be ascertained through the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Delaware State Police Detectives continue their investigation into this case.

DSP News Release: Troopers Conducting Death Investigation New Castle 

Location:

·         All Star Shredding and Recycling, 6 Dock View Drive (Delaware River Industrial Park), New Castle, DE

Date of Occurrence:

·         Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.

Victim:

·         Unidentified white male approximately 40-50 years of age

Resume:

New Castle-The Delaware State Police are conducting a death investigation at the All Star Shredding and Recycling, New Castle.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning as workers at the All Star Shredding and Recycling located the body of an unidentified white male, approximately 40-50 years of age.  The body was found by workers separating piles of cardboard and paper recyclable material, located in the sorting area inside of the facility.

Delaware State Police Detectives continue their investigation to determine the circumstance surrounding this incident and are working to determine the location of origin, of the body.

The body has been removed from the scene and turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Additional information about this case will be disseminated as soon as it becomes available.
