DSP News Release: Motorcyclist Injured in Hit and Run Crash

• Vehicle 1: 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle

• Vehicle 2: Fleeing vehicle possibly a silver Ford Focus

Claymont-Troopers are currently searching for the driver who fled from the scene of a hit and run crash that occurred last night in Claymont.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:18 p.m. last night as an unknown driver was operating a vehicle described as a silver Ford Focus, traveling northbound on Ridge Road, attempting to make a left turn into the parking lot of the Wawa store.  The Ford Focus turned left into the path of a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling southbound on Ridge Road, operated by Robert Douglas-55 of Claymont.  The front of the motorcycle struck the right front fender of the Ford Focus.  After the crash the Ford Focus fled northbound on Ridge Road towards Pennsylvania.

Robert Douglas suffered minor injuries and was treated by EMS at the scene and declined transport to a hospital.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the fleeing vehicle is described as silver Ford Focus and that the vehicle will have damage to the right front portion. The right front fender, and right front wheel well of the vehicle are all areas where possible damage may have occurred.
