Resume:

Millsboro, DE- The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the second of two individuals involved in the robbery of an 18 year old Lewes, DE woman that occurred last month.

Detectives have obtained warrants on Sean R. Caldwell, 23, of Dover, DE charging him with Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangering 1stDegree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree after he and a second subject, Richard T. Maddux, 31, of Millsboro, DE, robbed a female victim during a drug transaction in the parking lot of the Royal Farms store in Millsboro on September 10th.

During their investigation troopers learned that the victim had met Richard Maddux the previous evening (9/9/11)  in the parking lot of a convenience store in Long Neck, DE. Maddux advised the victim that he could supply her with “pills” if she ever needed any and then exchanged phone numbers with her. Later that evening the victim began receiving text messages from Sean Caldwell who advised her that he had been with Maddux when they had met in the convenience store parking lot. The victim then made arrangements with Caldwell to meet him in the parking lot of the Royal Farms on September 10th   in order to purchase prescription medication from him.

At approximately 1:15 p.m. on the victim entered the parking lot of the Royal Farms and parked next to a pickup truck that was occupied by both Richard Maddux and Sean Caldwell. The victim approached Maddux who was seated in the driver’s seat of the truck. As the victim prepared to hand Maddux $100.00 for the pills, he grabbed her hand that was holding the money and began driving away. The victim attempted to break free but could not. Maddux was able to pull the money from the victim’s hand, however, the victim grabbed onto the side of his truck. As he attempted to flee, Maddux began punching the victim in the hands and face while dragging her through the lot. The victim finally released her grip on the vehicle which caused her to strike her head on the pavement as she fell to the ground.

The victim transported herself to the Beebe Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released with multiple injuries. A six year old male juvenile was also in Maddux’s vehicle at the time of this incident. He was not injured.

Richard Maddux turned himself in at state police Troop 4 on September 10th. He was arraigned and committed to the Department of Correction after failing to post $64,000.00 secured bail.
