Resume: New Castle, DE- Delaware State Police Robbery Unit detectives have arrested two subjects in connection with a series of robberies that have occurred in the New Castle and Bear areas since Friday, November 25.
Detectives arrested Robinson Rivera, 29, of the unit block of Clyde Street in Wilmington and Jennifer Stout, 37, of the 100 block of Patricia Road in Newark earlier today and charged them with the above listed crimes. Both were committed to the Department of Corrections after failing to post bail following their arraignment.
The investigation began on Saturday, November 26 at approximately 11:56 a.m. after troopers were called to respond to the Cumberland Farms located in the 700 block of W. Basin Road, New Castle in reference to an attempted robbery. Arriving troopers were advised that a male suspect had entered the store and confronted the clerk, demanding cash. When the clerk refused, the suspect attempted to open the store’s cash register himself, but was unable to. The suspect then fled from the store and was observed entering the passenger seat of a green Ford Mustang which was being operated by a second male subject. The vehicle then fled the parking lot. There were no injuries.
At approximately 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, troopers were called to respond to the Shell Station located in the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue, New Castle, in reference to a robbery. Troopers learned that a male suspect matching the description of the suspect who had attempted to rob the Cumberland Farms, had entered the store and again confronted the clerk. He then demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the store. The suspect was again observed entering the passenger seat of a green Ford Mustang which then fled from the parking lot. Again, there were no injuries.
As officers were searching the area, a green Ford Mustang matching the description of the vehicle used in the in the previous incidents, was observed by an officer from the New Castle County Police Department traveling on US Rt. 13 in the area of DE Rt. 141 and was stopped. The male operator, who was the sole occupant of the car, was detained, and after further investigation, detectives were able to identify Robinson Rivera as the suspect who had attempted to rob the Cumberland Farms and who had robbed the Shell Station. Detectives obtained warrants charging Rivera with the two incidents and began searching for him.
On Saturday, November 26 at approximately 8:00 p.m. troopers responded to yet another robbery at the Express Mart located in the 700 block of Pulaski Highway in Bear. During the robbery a male suspect matching the description of Robinson Rivera entered the store and confronted the male clerk. The suspect demanded cash from the store register, and when the clerk refused to comply, the suspect removed the entire register from the sales counter and fled the store. He was then observed entering the passenger seat of a light colored Chevrolet Trail Blazer which then fled from the parking lot. There were no injuries.
Early this morning, November 27, a Delaware State Trooper on routine patrol observed a tan Chevrolet Trail Blazer commit a traffic violation on Moorehouse Drive, in New Castle. The trooper conducted a traffic stop of the car and upon approaching the vehicle, located a male subject, later identified as Robinson Rivera, hiding in the rear of the vehicle. Rivera, as well as the female operator, later identified as Jennifer Stout, were both taken into custody. After further investigation, detectives were able to link Robinson Rivera to the above listed robberies. Detectives were also able to link Jennifer Stout to the robbery of the Express Mart as well as the BP Gas Station robbery on Friday, November 25.
