RF SCANNER THEFT SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN PENNSYLVANIA


DSP News Release: RF Scanner Theft Suspects Arrested in Pennsylvania

Suspects/Charges:

·         Peter R. Sanchez-30 Bronx, New York

·         Surveillance photo ID- White male wearing multi colored plaid shirt, blue jeans. Tattoos covering both arms.

·         Claudi A. Javier-30 Hamilton, Ohio

·         Surveillance photo ID- Black male wearing blue plaid shirt, blue jeans.

·         Theft Under $1500.00

·         Conspiracy Third Degree

 

Resume:

North Wilmington-Delaware State Police have identified and obtained warrants for the suspects involved in the RF Scanner theft that occurred at the Wawa located at the Tally Ho Shopping Center.

 

The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at approximately 4:00 p.m. as the suspects entered the Wawa located at the Tally Ho Shopping Center, and removed a handheld Motorola RF Scanner from the counter and exited the store. Both suspects fled in a dark colored four door sedan, with a possible New York registration. The pair is also responsible for the theft of 10 additional scanners on the same date, from other businesses located in Pennsylvania including Upper Providence, Upper Darby, and Ridley Township.

 

Troopers received information from the Phillipsburg Police Department, New Jersey, that the duo was arrested at a Wawa convenience store in Northhampton County, PA on Monday.  Information received indicated that both suspects had committed a similar theft on Monday, November 21, 2011 at a Wawa in Phillipsburg, NJ.  The investigation in New Jersey led to the apprehension of both suspects in Pennsylvania.

 

Through cooperative investigation and information sharing involving Delaware State Police, Wawa Loss Prevention and police agencies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Troopers were able to connect the suspects to the theft from the Wawa on Naamans Road, and a series of other similar thefts of 11 RF Scanners that occurred in three states.

 

Troopers obtained warrants for Peter R. Sanchez-30 of Bronx, NY and Claudi A. Javier-30 of Hamilton, OH charging them with Theft Under $1500.00 and Conspiracy Third Degree.  Both were being held in Northhampton County, PA pending extradition to Delaware.

Location:

Suspects/Suspect Vehicle:

·         Suspect 1: White male, 25-30 years of age, 5’10” tall, 200 lbs. Last seen wearing multi colored plaid shirt, blue jeans. Tattoos covering both arms.

 

·         Suspect 2: Black male, 30-35 years of age, 5’10” tall, 200 lbs. Last seen wearing blue plaid shirt, blue jeans.

 

·         Suspect Vehicle: Unknown make/model dark colored four door sedan, possible New York registration.

 

·         Surveillance photos attached

 

Stolen Property:

·         Motorola MC9090 RF Scanner valued at $1400.00
