Resume: Newark, DE- Delaware State Police Financial Crimes Unit detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect who attempted to withdraw money from a New Jersey’s man’s bank account in August.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:05 p.m. on August 23, 2011 as a male suspect entered the PNC bank branch located in the 4600 block of Ogletown-Stanton Road, in Newark, DE. The suspect approached a bank teller and presented him with a completed withdraw slip in which he was attempting to obtain over $4500.00. The suspect also presented a New Jersey identification card with his picture and the personal information belonging to the victim, a 47 year old New Jersey man, who is a customer of the bank. Due to the amount of money that was being requested, the teller presented the withdraw slip and identification to the bank manager for approval. After checking the identification, which appeared suspicious to the manager, it was decided to place a call to the customer whose name was on the identification. Upon making contact with the customer, who was not the suspect standing in the bank, the manager stated that the customer needed to contact the 9-1-1 call center and report what was occurring. The suspect, who overheard the conversation, then fled from the bank in an unknown direction.
It was later learned that the same suspect had successfully withdrawn money from the victim’s account earlier in the day at a PNC Bank branch located in Elkton, Maryland.
The Delaware State Police are asking anyone who may know the identification of the suspect pictured below to contact Det. David may at Troop 2 at 302-834-2630.
