DSP News Release:  Two Injured in New Castle Accident

 

Location: US Rt. 13 northbound at Schafer Boulevard, New Castle, DE

 

Date and Time: Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 4:10 p.m.

 

Operators and Vehicles:

 

-Operator #1: Geoffrey C. Ramsey, 26, Newark, DE

-Vehicle #1: 2001 Ford Econoline

 

-Operator #2: Kristen D. Hagan, 31, Newark, DE

-Vehicle #2: 1995 Nissan Altima

 

-Operator #3: Christopher E. O’Neill, 24, Newark, DE

-Vehicle #3: 2006 Ford F-450

 

Resume:

New Castle, DE- The Delaware State Police are investigating a three vehicle crash in which two people suffered injuries that occurred this afternoon in New Castle.

 

The crash happened at approximately 4:10 p.m. as Kristen Hagan, 31, was operating a 1995 Nisan Altima and was attempting to make a left hand turn from US Rt. 13 southbound onto eastbound Schafer Boulevard. As Hagan turned she entered into the path of 2001 Ford Econoline that was traveling on Rt. 13 northbound in the left hand lane and which was being operated by Geoffrey Ramsey, 26. The front of the Nissan Altima then struck the front of the Ford. The Ford continued traveling in a north east direction where it then struck the rear of a 2006 Ford F-450 truck which was in the process of turning from westbound Schafer Boulevard onto northbound US Rt. 13.

 

Geoffrey Ramsey and Christopher O’Neill were both removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Christiana Hospital where they were treated for non life threatening injuries. Kristen Hagan, who initially fled on foot from the crash scene but later returned, and a 39 year old female passenger in her vehicle were not injured. Hagan was cited by Troopers with failure to yield the right of way, driving with a suspended operator’s license, failure to provide information at an accident scene, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

 

Rt. 13 northbound was closed for approximately one hour as the crash was investigated and cleared.

Resume:

New Castle, DE- US Rt. 13 northbound has been re-opened to traffic at this time.

 

This crash remains under investigation at this time. Two injured parties have been removed from the scene and transported to the Christiana Hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries.

 

Complete information will be released at the conclusion of the crash investigation.

DSP News Release:  Accident Closes Northbound Lanes of Rt. 13

 

Location: US Rt. 13 northbound at Llangollen Boulevard, New Castle, DE

 

Date and Time of Occurrence:  Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 4:15 p.m.

 

Resume:  

New Castle, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently at the scene of a personal injury accident that has the northbound lanes of Rt. 13 closed at Llangollen Boulevard.

 

Initial information is that there is a dump truck and possibly two other vehicles involved in the crash.

 

Commuters are asked to find alternate means of travel around the crash scene.

 

More detailed information will be released as it is received.
