DSP News Release: Georgetown Woman Dies from Injuries Sustained in Accident

-Star Vanvorst, 49, Georgetown, DE
Resume: Georgetown, DE- The Georgetown, DE woman who was injured after a vehicle struck her home in late October has died as a result of her injuries.
Star Vanvorst, 49, was pronounced dead at the Beebe Medical Center at approximately 12:05 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011 after she had been transported there after collapsing at her family physician’s office earlier in the day. Her body was turned over to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner who determined the exact cause and manner of her death.

This crash remains under investigation at this time.

DSP News Release: Two Injured after Vehicle Strikes Home
Location: Residence in the 20000 block of DuPont Boulevard, Georgetown, DE
Date and Time of Occurrence: Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 3:05 p.m.
Operators and Vehicles:
-Operator: Alberto Lopez-Resendiz, 37, Georgetown, DE -Vehicle: 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
Resume: Georgetown, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a one car crash in which a vehicle ran into a home that occurred this afternoon in Georgetown, DE.
The incident happened at approximately 3:05 p.m. today as Alberto Lopez-Resendiz, 37, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt and was traveling in the right hand lane of northbound DuPont Boulevard in Georgetown. An unknown make and model tractor trailer, which was also traveling on northbound DuPont Boulevard, swerved from the left hand lane into the right hand lane. Lopez-Resendiz swerved his vehicle to the right in order to avoid being struck by the tractor trailer, and entered a ditch. He then lost control of the Cobalt and overturned several times, coming to rest after striking an occupied home located in the 20000 block of DuPont Boulevard.
Alberto Lopez-Resendiz was able to free himself from his car. He was then removed from the scene and transported by EMS to the Milford Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries. A female resident in the home, Star Vanvorst, 49, was injured after being struck and pinned by furniture inside of the home. After being freed by a neighbor who heard the crash, Vanvorst was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Beebe Memorial Hospital where she was treated for non life threatening injuries. Another male subject who was also inside of the home was not injured.
The Delaware State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this accident to contact Trooper Baker at Troop 4 at 302-856-5850.
