Resume:

Bear-The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred early this morning in Bear.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. this morning as the 47 year old male was operating a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling northbound on Bear Corbitt Road approaching Lower Twin Lane Road.

For unknown reasons the Ford F-150 crossed the center line into the southbound lane of Bear Corbitt Road, and then traveled off of the left (west) side of the roadway, with the front of the F-150 striking a concrete bridge abutment.  The F-150 then rolled down the embankment, overturning onto its roof, coming to rest in a ditch.

The 47 year old male was transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead. His name will be released pending the notification of next of kin.

Preliminary investigation determined that the 47 year old male was the sole occupant of the Ford F-150 and was properly restrained.

The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident.

***Traffic Advisory/Road Closure*** Bear Corbitt Road remains closed between Lower Twin Lane Road and Wrangle Hill Road due to damage from the crash to the small bridge over the Holts Run Creek.  DELDOT on scene.
