UPDATE, DOVER MAN INJURED IN CRASH

DSP News Release: Dover Man Injured in Crash

 

Location: US Rt. 13 north of DE Rt. 42, Cheswold, DE

 

Date and Time: Wednesday, November 02, 2011 at 6:40 p.m.

 

Operator and Vehicle:

 

-Operator: James C. Tolliver, 61, Dover, DE

-Vehicle: 2004 Chevrolet Aveo

 

Victim (pedestrian):

 

-Anthony Johnson, 17, Dover, DE

 

Resume:

Cheswold, DE- The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash in which a 17 year old pedestrian was struck that occurred early tonight in Cheswold, DE.

 

The crash happened at approximately 6:40 p.m. as Anthony Johnson was attempting to run in an eastbound direction across US Rt. 13 just north of DE Rt. 42. As Johnson reached the right hand lane of southbound Rt. 13, he was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo which was being operated by James Toliver, 61, of Dover, DE. The force of the collision knocked Johnson to the ground in the roadway.

 

Anthony Johnson was removed from the scene and transported by EMS to the Kent General Hospital where he was admitted with serious but non life threatening injuries. James Toliver was not injured.

 

The southbound lanes of US Rt. 13 were closed for approximately 1.5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

 

This crash remains under investigation at this time.

DSP News Release:  Troopers on Scene of a Serious Crash Involving a Pedestrian

 

Location: US Rt. 13 and DE Rt. 42, Cheswold, DE

 

Date and Time of Occurrence:  Wednesday, November 02, 2011 at approximately 6:45 p.m.

 

Resume:   

Cheswold, DE-The Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a serious personal injury motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred this evening in Cheswold.

 

The initial investigation has revealed that a male subject has been struck by a motor vehicle.

 

Troopers have shut down both US Rt. 13 and DE Rt. 42 around the scene of the crash and commuters are asked to find alternate means of travel.

 

The investigation into this crash is in its early stages and more information will be released at a later time.
