UPDATE RAPE SUSPECT APPREHENDED
Resume Update: Kenton-Delaware State Police Monday May 30, 2011 charged William J. Widner of Kenton with Rape First Degree and Reckless Endangering Second Degree.
Today Widner was taken to Kent General Hospital for treatment of an unknown medical condition. Widner while at the hospital informed staff that he had an active arrest warrant.
Delaware State Police responded to Kent General Hospital and took Widner into custody after he was medically cleared. Widner was processed and remanded to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 cash bond.

DSP News Release: Kenton Man Sought for Rape/ Reckless Endangering Charges

Resume: Kenton-Delaware State Police on May 16, 2011 conducted a rape investigation alleged to have occurred between May 13th and 14th of this year. The sexual assault occurred at a residence in the 100 block of High Street Kenton Delaware.
The investigation determined that on the previously mentioned dates the victim came into contact with the suspect William J. Widner-49 of Kenton through a mutual acquaintance.
During the time spent with Widner, the victim was supplied alcohol and pills. The victim at some point “blacked out” and was sexually assaulted by Widner.
Following investigative interviews, Delaware State Police executed a search warrant at Widner’s residence, however he was not present. State Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Widner for 1 count each of Rape First Degree and Reckless Endangering Second Degree and are actively searching for him.
