Resume:

Dover-Wednesday May 25th Delaware State Police investigated a robbery on South State Street and Lakeland Avenue S/O Dover around 5:12 pm.

Delaware State Troopers contacted the victim and two Good Samaritans near Moore’s Lake and began their investigation.  When Troopers arrived the two Good Samaritans had the 14 year old teen already in custody.

The investigation revealed that a 60 year old man had just exited a bus and began walking southbound on South State Street with his bike, when he was approached by a teenager.  The teenager told the victim he wanted his bike.  When the victim refused, the teenager lunged toward him and forcibly removed a checkbook from the victim’s pocket.  After obtaining the checkbook the teenager fled into Lakeland Mobile Home Park.

A short time later the teenager reappeared and began running toward the Moore’s Lake boat ramp.  The victim observed the teenager and summoned for people in the area to assist.  Two Good Samaritans who also observed the robbery were able to apprehend and detain the teen until Troopers could arrive.

The victim’s checkbook, bank cards and identification were also recovered a short distance away from the crime scene.

The 14 year old teenager was charged with 1 count of Robbery Second Degree and then remanded to the Stevenson House Detention Center on $5,000 secured bond.  (Held Bond is still active)

The victim was not injured and did not require medical attention.
